Government Urged Through memorandum to invite United Nation’s Special Rapporteur
A memorandum from various district of western region has been presented to the government urging to invite United Nation’s special rapporteur to Nepal.
A team of INSEC with Civil Society for Peace Kaski and other human rights activists have presented the memorandum to the government through western regional administrator Khag Raj Baral on December 9. Administrator Baral said that he is aware of ensuring Human Rights to the people and committed at the same time to hand over the memorandum to the Prime Minister.
According to the Baglung District representative Srijana Panta, a memorandum urging government to invite special rapporteur to Nepal has been handed over to the government through Chief District Officer on December 9. INSEC including various human rights organizations of the district have handed over the memorandum to CDO Bhagirath Pandey.
The memorandum was jointly signed by the representatives from INSEC, Human Rights organizations, Conflict Victim’s society for Justice, Advocacy Forum Nepal. While accepting the memorandum, CDO Pandey showed his commitment to hand over the letter to the government.
According to INSEC Syangja district representative Sangeeta Bhat memorandum was handed over by INSEC and various Human Rights organizations of the district to CDO Hari Prasad Pant.
While accepting the letter he said that it is the government’s responsibility and liability to follow the treaties that it has signed. He further assured that the letter will be forwarded to the Prime Minsiter as soon as possible.
According to our Gulmi District Representative Top Lal Aryal, a memorandum has been handed over to the government through CDO Krishna Prasad Dhungana by INSEC and various Human Rights organizations of the district on December 9.
While accepting the memorandum, CDO Dhungana said that he is committed to protect and promote the human rights of the people. He also assured that he will forward the letter to the government.
In Manang district, the memorandum was handed over to CDO Ganja Bahadur MC according to our district representative Suresh Kumar Thapa.
According to Tanahu district representative Prakash Chandra Bhattarai, a memorandum was handed over to the government urging to invite special rapporteur to Nepal through CDO. Similarly in Lamjung district memorandum was handed over to the CDO Krishna Prasad Paudel.
The memorandum from Kapilbastu, Parbat, Arghakhanchi, Palpa, Rupendehi and Gorkha have also been handed over to the government through respective chief district officers urging government to invite United Nation’s special Rapporteur to Nepal.
