The Government has decided to add 22 local level units in 12 districts in the plains of the country according to RSS.
The decision was taken by the Council of Ministers this evening on the recommendation of the task force formed to look into possibilities of increasing the local levels, according to Minister for Information and Communications Surendra Kumar Karki. A decision has been taken to upgrade Biratnagar and Birgunj Sub-metropolis into metropolitan cities.
Minister Karki said that two local levels have been added in Sunsari, one in Saptari, two in Rautahat, one in Parsa, one in Dhanusa, three in Sarlahi, one in Bara, three in Nawalparasi, three in Rupandehi, three in Kapilvastu, one in Kailali and one local level in Banke.
Likewise, two municipalities have been added in Jhapa, one each in Siraha, Dhanusa, Bara, 11 in Rautahat, two in Rupandehi, two in Banke, one in Kailali and three in Mahottari.
Minister Karki said that the municipalities were added on the basis of population.
Likewise, the meeting decided to extend the duration of the temporary police personnel, who were recruited in the first phase of the local level elections, and deploy in the second phase of local level election.
Furthermore, the government has approved the conceptual framework on National Plan of Action on Youth Peace and Security or the Proposal No. 2250 of the UN Security Council.
The meeting also appointed Joint Secretary of Law Koshalchandra Subedi as the Executive Director of the Pancheshwor Development Authority while Dr Sitaram Aryal as the Chairman of Nepal Veterinary Council, and Swyam Prakash Shrestha and Narayan Prasad Ghimire as the Registrar.
Similarly, Raghunath Gautam was appointed as the Chairman of Board of Directors of Dairy Development Corporation. The meeting also decided to give recognition of National Game to volleyball.
