Girl student restricted to go to school during their Menstrual period
The students (girl) from Tolidebal Danda High School at Triveni Municipality-4 are deprived of going to school during their menstrual cycle.
They were deprived of going to school at least 5-7 days in a month during their period as there is a temple inside the school premises.
There is a superstition that god will be unhappy if they enter the school premises during the cycle as there is a temple in the premises.
A student Geeta Kumari Joshi of the school said that they could not go to the school because of having temple in the school premises.
The parents and a community have restricted them to go to the school depriving their right to study.
There are 100 students in the school of which 738 students girls. At least 50% of the girl students do not come to the school during their menstrual period according to teacher Tek Raj Giri.
This superstition is very hard to remove immediately however discussion with parents and community is undergoing to improve it said the school management.
