Four Accused Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Killing Ward Chairperson
Prem Dhami, 26, Dharma Dhami, 25, Jeevan Dhami, 25, and Ramesh Dhami, 22, of Panchadewal Binayak Municipality-2 have been sentenced to life imprisonment by the District Court, Achham. They were proven guilty for killing Padam Bahadur Dhami, the chairperson of Panchadewal Binayak Municipality-2.
A bench of District Judge Nabin Kumar Joshi sentenced the four to 25 years in prison, said Chudamani Parajuli, a co-counsel at the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Achham.
The court has released Padam Dhami, 50, of Dhadewari, Neupane, 35, Dhaniram Dhakal, 35, Shyam Dhami, 30, and Ramesh Shahi, 26, of Panchadewal Binayak Municipality-2 after they were found innocent in the case.
Police had arrested nine persons on the same day after the victim lodged a FIR against them on March 1, 2020 at District Police Office, Achham.
Among the arrested, Prem Dhami, Dharma Dhami, Jeevan Dhami and Ramesh Dhami were remanded in custody for trial.
The ward chairperson was found dead in the morning of February 4, 2020 in Bhaisigoth in Garigaun of the same ward. The postmortem of the body was conducted at the District Hospital, Achham on February 6, 2020.
