Police have arrested four cadres of Nepal Communist Party including District in charge Arjun Acharya “Saugat” on May 17 on charge of operating anti-election campaign in the district.
The arrestees were Birendra Magarati, Sagar Limbu and Sher Bahadur. They were arrested from one of the hotel in Phidim according to DSP Nakul Pokhrel of DPO.
Meanwhile, the rights activists have demanded not to be bias on arrestees as the accused were not allowed to meet with other people. The activists have released a press statement and demanded police to correct their behavior.
“We are extremely saddened by the behavior shown by police Chief Nakul Pokhrel by lingering to give information about the arrested accused”, the statement says. It further urges the concerned body to correct such behavior.
The statement signed by INSEC representative Mangal Begha, Sahaman B.K of PYAG, Lekh Nath Khatiwada of eastern human rights defender council and Prem Ojha of HURADEC has urged local administration to allow meeting with the arrested accused.
