District Hospital of Gorkha faces health professional crisis

The District Hospital of Gorkha is facing the crisis of health professionals as per their posts despite of upgrading the hospital to 50 beds. The hospital is compelled to refer patients to other hospitals due to the shortage of doctors.

The hospital was upgraded to 50 beds from 15 in 2013. Along with the upgrading, the posts for child ailment, maternity, orthopedic, radiology, pathology and surgeon experts were added however the posts are not fulfilled yet and patents are compelled to go to Pokhara or Kathmandu for treatment.

After not having expert health professionals as per the posts, patients could not be admitted in the hospital says medical superintendent She Ram Tiwari.
