Detainees living a risky life in dilapidated buildings

The inmates and detainees of Palpa District are compelled to live a risky life under the dilapidated prison building. The construction of male detention center is being constructed however the delaying in process is causing difficulties.

The prison building was built in 1983 and majority of buildings are in dilapidated condition. Two buildings sustained major damage due to the earthquake in 2015 however they were renovated and detainees are kept there. Other remaining buildings are in very bad condition.

“D” graded district prison has a capacity of 300 inmates and detainees however there are 211 convicted and accused detainees and prisoners. There are 54 female and 2 dependent children.
