Demand to void the candidacy of Human rights violator
As the process of giving candidacy is expediting, the Human Rights activists have demanded to void the candidacy of those candidates who have been charged of human rights violation in past.
INSEC, Advocacy Forum Nepal and Nepal Human Rights Organization (HURON) have jointly organized a program in Anamnagar in Kathmandu and demanded to withdraw the candidacy of the person charged with human rights violation.
Names of the candidates such as Babu Ram Bhattarai, Agni Sapkota, Rajiv Gurung and Mohamed Alam have been quoted and demanded to void their candidacies.
According to the Election Commission, except Alam, other candidates have already given their candidacy for the upcoming election.
Similarly, it is almost sure that Alam is going to give his candidacy for the second phase of election from Saptari.
All these listed candidates have been charged with human rights violation in the past. Speaking at the program INSEC chairperson Subodh Raj Pyakurel demanded to withdraw the candidacy of all four candidates. He warned that if the candidacy is not voided the accused can be arrested anywhere in the world.
Narayan Singh, father of Trilok who was murdered by Alam 15 years ago, said that he hated the state for preparing to give candidacy to Alam who is charged of human rights violation in the past.
