Dalit Family attacked over the issue of untouchability
A complaint against Shre Kanta Yadav, 45 of Maharajgunj Municipality-8 including a group of 16 people have been lodged at District Police Office on June 4 on charge of untouchability. Victims Drona Bahadur Chamar,45 of the same municipality, his 18 years old son Janu lal Chamar, brother Ram Bilash Chamar, 30 years old brother Rahul Chamar, 22 year old daughter in law Shubhabati Chamar and 21 years old Soni Chamar were attacked by the group of people over the issue of untouchability.
The family was attacked on charge of touching so called higher class people. During the attack, Drona Bahadur Chamar sustained fractured hand and deep cut in his head.
Other family members also sustained injuries and bruises over their body.
According to the local Ram Milan Dhobi, on May 27 Drona Chamar was coming back on the way to his home in a bicycle after a minor shopping at Maharajgunj. While he was coming back, his bicycle touched Shrekanta Yadav and Chamar was beaten on charge of touching upper cast.
He sustained a head injuries on that day. After four days of incident his whole family was beaten by the accused after the victim’s son was going to lodge complaint about the misbehavior on his father. The family lodged complaint at Hardauna Police Post and both parties were summoned for the discussion however Daloit family were threatened by Yadav in front of police.
The victim’s pleaded for justice and went to District Administration Office. CDO directed DSP Narendra Karki to investigate the incident. The investigation is undergoing according to DSP Karki. He said that the accused will be charged if found guilty.
