Court slams life sentence on charge of killing after alleging of being witch
The District Court of Saptari has ordered to sentence 61 years old Bhola Sada of Dandha Rural Municipality-8 for life after finding him guilty on killing 65 years old Khatar Sada in an allegation of being witch.
The convict had attacked the victim with a home-made weapon on the night of 2016, November 17 while he was sleeping. A single bench of district court judge Umesh Koirala had given the verdict regarding the case on January 2.
The postmortem of the body was conducted at Ganasingh Zonal Hospital in Rajbiraj on November 18.
The victim’s wife Khihara Devi Sada,55 had lodged complaint at Area Police Office of Kanchanrup on a same day and based on a complaint he was arrested. The convict was remanded in custody since December 7, 2016.
