Court Declares Life Imprisonment to Murder Accused
Roshan Raut, 25, of Kathari Municipality-11 has been sentenced to life imprisonment by district court on November 3 for killing Dorkumari Raut, 50, of Lakhanthumka in Katari Municipality-11.
A bench of Justice Deepak Khanal ruled that the victim was guilty of murder and was sentenced for life imprisonment. The judge also ordered the accused to pay Rs 1 lakh as compensation to the victim, said Raj Kumar Acharya, Information Officer of the court in a meeting with INSEC representatives.
A relative of the victim Durga Bahadur Raut had lodged a complaint at the Area Police Office, Katari on September 12 alleging that the accused had killed the victim by stabbing her with a sharp object while she was alone at home.
The accused was arrested by the police from his house on the day of the incident and a case was registered in the district court.
The court had remanded the accused in custody for trial on October 7. The postmortem of the body was done at Katari Hospital on September 12.
