Corona Virus: Status Update of Province 5
The Province Five Government has started the Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) of the people staying in quarantine. A team of 6 health workers in the districts of Province Five are being mobilized to conduct RDT.
According to the District Representative of Arghakhanchi, Narayan Parajuli, District Administration Office has been conducting a daily monitoring of isolation and quarantine shelters.
Local governments of the district has been providing essential food supplies to the people in need.
Dairy Business Association President Chandra Prasad Banjade has said that due to the lockdown, farmers have been deeply affected. Every day 12 thousand litres of milk is being produced, out of which only 3 thousand litres of milk are being consumed.
According to the District Representative of Kapilvastu, Parbati Acharya, to enforce the lockdown, security personnel has been added and mobilized.
In Badganga Municipality, Vijayanagar Rural Municipality and Budhhabhumi Municipality, a total of 959 foreign returnees are kept in-home quarantine.
Vijayanagar Rural Municipality has provided 20,000 NPR to the family of Gobardhan Bhar, who died in isolation ward during the treatment.
According to the District Representative of Dang, Jaya Narayan Pun, District Coordination Committee has conducted the monitoring of isolation and quarantine shelters, relief distribution process, and utilization of the Emergency Fund of 10 local governments. After the monitoring, local governments are suggested to establish quarantine shelters based on standard guidelines, relief distribution process must follow the one-door system and effective intervention must be made to fight against COVID-19 outbreak.
According to the District Representative of Pyuthan, Rabindra Pandey, swab test samples of the 31-year-old man and his daughter who had symptoms of COVID-19 have been sent to Butwal hospital. The man had returned from India on March 21.
Mallarani Rural Municipality has distributed essential food supplies to 223 families.
According to the District Representative of Gulmi, Topalal Aryal, it is mandatory for the people who came from outside Nepal, to stay in quarantine. The 12 local governments of the district jointly have established 1,083 beds quarantine shelters.
District Administration Office has been conducting a daily monitoring of the quarantine shelters, implementation of lockdown, and relief distribution, in the leadership of Chief District Officer (CDO) Bharat Kumar Sharma.
According to the District Representative of Nawalparasi (West), Narayan Parajuli, the 7 local governments of the district have provided essential food supplies to 6,021 poor families.
A total number of 131 foreign returnees are kept in quarantine shelters.
According to the District Representative of Palpa, Yagya Murti Timilshina, the people are not allowed to walk out from their municipality exception for in an emergency.
The quarantine shelters of the district are visited and monitored by the health workers and elected representatives regularly.
Local governments have provided essential food supplies to 4,537 families in need.
According to the District Representative of Rolpa, Harishara Gharti, International Rolpali Society has contributed 50,000 NPR to ‘Corona Virus Management Emergency Fund.’ Likewise, businessperson Gyan Bahadur Oli has provided essential food items to 5 families of daily wage earners, and Red Star Youth Club, Siddha Puja Welfare Community and S Unit Team have distributed soaps and masks to the local governments.
According to the District Representative of Bardiya, Man Bahadur Chaudhary, the local governments of Bardiya in total have established 507-bed capacity quarantine shelters. There are a total of 390 people, who returned from India and outside of the district kept in quarantine.
CDO Prem Lal Adhikari has informed that among the total of 17 COVID-19 tests, 6 tests resulted in negative and result of the remaining 11 tests is yet to come. He also informed that the Armed Police Force has been deployed in 87 places of the border to prevent people from migrating from India.
According to the District Representative of Rukum, Jayaman Budha Magar, Health Desks have been established at the 8 different entry points of the district and 145 people got health tests through health desk on April 11.
Prabhu Bank Branch Office Rukumkot has contributed 50,000 NPR to “Corona Virus Control and Treatment Emergency Fund” of Sishne Rural Municipality.
According to the District Representative of Rupandehi, Rima BC, the Federal Government has provided 5,000 RDT kits to the province government.
COVID-19 suspected 152 patients’ throat swab tests have been conducted and among them, 125 tests resulted in negative and the result of the remaining test reports are yet to come.
