Consumer’s Human Rights at Risk: Stakeholders

The participants at the program on ” Consumers Human Rights Situation” organised by NHRC in Bidur on November 17 have accused that the Human Rights situation of the consumers are at risk as concerned authority do not monitors market.

The District level leaders said that due to the lack of effective monitoring in the district, the black marketing and contamination in food is increasing.

District secretary Surendra Raj Adhikari of Nepali Congress said that due to the lack of awareness among the consumers and administration’s apathy on monitoring, the consumers are compelled to consume contaminated food which is bad for health. He accused administration of monitoring market only during the festival.

In the program, NHRC monitoring officers Deependra Singh, Bir Bahadur Buda Magar, Kiran Ghimire had provided facilitation and health workers, entrepreneur, consumers and rights activists had expressed their views.
