Complaint lodged against “Chaupadi Practice” and Dailekh Incident

A complaint has been lodged at District Police Office of Dailekh against the family members of 18 years old Tulsi Shahi of Chamunda Bindabasini Municipality-6, Lainchaur who died during the “Chaupadi Practice”. The complaint against the family was lodged on a basis that the victim died in a snake bite during the Chaupadi practice.

The complaint was lodged by INSEC district representative Amar Bahadur Sunar, Chairperson Hira Singh Thapa of Social Service Center (SOSEC), advocates Bishnu Prasad Pokhrel and Sashi Basnet along with women health campaigner Radha Paudel and Journo Samjhana Paudel on July 23.

Dhirja Shahi,62, mother of the victim, elder brother Prem Bahadur Shahi and 23 year old Him Bahadur Shahi were made  defendant. They were made defendant because the victim died in a snake bite while she was in Chaupadi and despite of rushing her to the hospital the critical time was spent on witch doctor according to campaigner Radha Paudel.
