Violation of Code of Conduct Rampant as regulating body is apathetic

The speakers in a program organized by CCCE in Sarlahi said that the violation of code of conduct is rampant in the district due to the apathy shown by the election commission on strict enforcement of it.

The speakers said that the violation of code of conduct is increasing as regulating body is not being active on its enforcement and said that even government itself has violated the election CoC.

Putting a view in a program, INSEC chairperson and CCCE co-chairperson Subodh Raj Pyakurel said that there has been question mark in a fairness of election in province number 2 as leaders are changing their party just to become a candidate. He added that the election can be fair only when voters are aware and candidates are clean. Chairperson Pyakurel said that racism must be avoided to institutionalize the democracy.

The leaders of civil society said that the regulation body is completely silence even though the violation of code of conduct is so rampant in the district.

Civil society leader Shiva Chandra Chaudhary said that the time period for the election is not suitable as terai and Madhes are still suffering from flood. The program was participated by media, security , activists and representatives from political parties.
