Students of the district are deprived of getting amount of scholarship provided by the government due to the lack of having disability identity card. The government have allocated 4.6 million rupees to 250 students having disability for the financial year 2017 however, only 3.6 million rupees were separated for the students.
The amount is distributed through District Education Office and83 students have already received the amount for first quarter.. For second quarter 40 students have applied for the scholarship and they are still to get the amount according to branch officer Nirmal Dhungel of DEO. Still 127 seats are still remaining for the students having disability.
But, in remote part of the district more than 200 students with disability are deprived of getting the amount because of not having ID cards. Majority of them are ignorant about the scholarship according to coordinator Prakash Chapagain of DEO.
He added that it is important to aware students and parents about the scholarships as most of them are ignorant about it.
