Child Marriage stopped in police initiation

A child marriage in Kumakh Rural Municipality in Salyan was stopped in an initiation of Police on July 2. Police interfere the marriage when the marriage rituals were continuing in the quadrangle.

Police had stopped the marriage between 17 years old boy from Kumakh Rural Municipality and 18 years old girl from Darma Rural Municipality and were presented in the police office. They were later handed over to their parents according to ASI Khim Bahadur Nepali.

They were handed over to their family after counselling with child club, child protection committee and Dalit Development Society in the police station.

As per law, Child marriage is illegal in Nepal and it is everyone’s duty to de motivate such activities said ASI Nepali.
