Call for peaceful environment, Curfew continues in Kanchanpur
The multiparty meeting held in District Administration Office of Kanchanpur in chairmanship of CDO Tara Nath Adhikari has came into conclusion with four-point decision after the peace situation of the district is deteriorating every day.
The meeting has decided to demand Shanni Khuna, who died in a police firing, as a martyr along with the compensation to the family from all three levels of the government. Similarly, free treatment to the injured, investigation of vandalization of public and private properties, investigation of excessive use of force and firing by the security during the agitation and demanding action against the guilt with home ministry, fair investigation of the incident and maintaining peace in the district by coordinating with political parties. On August 24, 15 years old Shanni Khuna was shot dead in a police firing during the demonstration by locals demanding the fair investigation of Nirmala Pant case. After the situation became tensed, the local administration has extended the indefinite curfew in Mahendranagar and nearby places.
Passengers coming from various places were stranded after and normal life is affected due to the curfew.
