Police have re-arrested Dharmendra Bastola, leader of the banned Communist Party of Nepal from the premises of the Supreme Court.

Hearing the habeas corpus writ, the Supreme Court had ordered the release of Bastola on February 22.

Police arrested Bastola from the gate of the Supreme Court soon after his release.

A bench of justices Meera Khadka and Sushmalatha Mathema, hearing the habeas corpus writ, had ordered the release of Bastola, saying it was not appropriate from a judicial point of view.

According to the Registrar of the Supreme Court, Lal Bahadur Kumar, the arrest was made only after he had different views and beliefs.

Bastola, a member of the CPN (Maoist) Secretariat, was arrested by the police from Gimdi of Bagmati Rural Municipality-7 in Lalitpur on January 13, 2021.
