AWC draws its attention on Darjeeling Incident
The Accountability Watch Committee (AWC) on July 16 has released a press statement and drawn its serious attention on the use of excessive power by the Indian Security Force in Darjeeling area in West Bengal, India. The committee urges Indian Government to respect the provision provided by the Indian constitution on people’s right to conduct peaceful demonstration and ending the blockade imposed along with the excessive use of power.
The statement further stated that many people have lost their lives previously in an excessive use of power by the security during peaceful agitation.
The statement also urged the Indian government to be sensitive on citizen’s lives and their dignity and said that the committee believes that the political dispute will be solved through dialogue and peaceful remedy.
