Address issue with meaningful dialogue: Commission
National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has monitored the condition of Dr Mahesh Kumar Gajurel who has been staging hunger strike since eight days demanding the contract service of the part time professors.
The monitoring team had met with the concerned members of dialogue team and Dr Gajurel according to the press released by the commission on October 4.
The statement says that ” TU professor Dr Gajurel is on a hunger strike since the past eight days, demanding contract-based appointment to the part-time teachers of universities. Speaking at a press meet here on Wednesday, the Association General Secretary Keshav Chand said that the government should address the demands immediately and thereby save the life of Dr Gajurel, whose health is deteriorating by the day.”
The commission said that letter was sent to TU for the implementation of the agreement however it has been found that the agreement has not been implemented yet.
The commission has urged government to take this issue seriously and save life of Dr Gajurel.
