Accused of Murder After Rape Arrested
Police have arrested Raju Achhame, 24, of Rautamai Rural Municipality on April 18 on the charge of raping and killing a 26-year-old woman with a psychosocial disability.
SP Bhim Bahadur Dahal of the District Police Office said in a meeting with INSEC representatives that the accused was arrested on March 24, 2021, on the charge of raping and killing the victim.
According to SP Dahal, the accused was forcibly taken to the Navjyoti Community Forest Area in Rautamai Rural Municipality-7 on March 24. The accused was arrested on April 18 after a human skeleton was found in a hole in the community forest area.
The accused had forcibly taken the victim to the forest area on March 24 and the locals had informed the police on April 18 after finding a cloth worn by a woman in the community forest area while collecting firewood.
According to SP Dahal, the accused confessed during the investigation that he killed her after rape.
According to SP Dahal, the victim was found wearing a hat and a human skeleton.
According to DSP Dahal, the legal process has been initiated to make the information public for 15 days and then hand it over to the poor BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan (Ghopa).
The post-mortem of the body has been done at the District Hospital on April 17.
