Absconding Rape accused arrested after three years

Police have arrested 25 years old Dharmendra Kumar Das of Bodebasain Municipality-6 on August 2. He was charged of raping  12 years old girl three years ago. After the incident, the accused was at large.

The accused has been sent to prison according to Kiran Kumar Singh of District Court.

A single bench of District Court judge Harish Chandra Dhungana had ordered to sentence Das for eight years along with compensation to the victim as the court’s verdict on August 2.

The accused is charged of raping 12 years old girl in 2015 August 18. He was controlled by the locals and was handed over to the Area Police Office of Bode Basain on August 19 however he was released on date.

The victim underwent health checkup at Ganasing Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital on August 26 only after an FIR was lodged by the victim’s mother against the accused.

The complaint against the accused was registered at District Police Office on August 27 after the pressure was exerted by rights activist. At that time the accused was already released and was absconding. Police had issued warrant against the accused on September 18.

Das presented himself in court after one year however he was released on a bail amount of Rs 20,000 in 2017, March 30 by a single bench of district court judge Kul Prasad Sharma.

Das was absconding after he was ordered to be remanded in custody fr investigation. The absconding  Das was arrested by police after three years and was sent to the prison.
