About " Nepal Human Rights Yearbook"
INSEC is publishing Human Rights Yearbook since 1992. So far, 11 Human Rights Yearbooks have been published. The 1998 Human Rights Yearbook was published in 1999. Previously, the date used to be written the same as the collection of information was made. But from 1999, this was changed and written ‘Human Rights Yearbook 1998' and published in 1999. The same is being followed till date.
Various personalities, academics, researchers and members of civil society from and abroad the countries have cited Human Rights Yearbooks as their reference material. Both print and electronic media have quoted Human Rights Yearbook time and again. Human Rights Yearbook has been the only primary and reliable source of document for social scientists, human rights activists, journalists and other experts for citing the human rights issues in Nepal . Recently, Human Rights Yearbook has been commenced to publish from Mynmar as well. They have clearly mentioned INSEC's Human Rights Yearbook as their example to follow as model. Centre for Nepal and Asian Studies (CNAS), Department of State, USA and other dozens of academic as well as action oriented organisations have cited Human Rights Yearbook as their reference materials.
Human Rights Yearbook published by INSEC is the refined and sincerely corrected and updated version. The contents of the yearbook are also the materials published in INSEC's other publications Situation Reports (quarterly), Informal (quarterly), Prachi (bi-monthly) and Aviyan (monthly).
Objectives

The overall objective of the publication of Human Rights Yearbook is to
make aware the public, the government and other personnel taking
interest on human rights about the human rights situation in
Nepal. Apart from this, this book has the following specific
objectives:

To create awareness for stopping human rights violation from the very beginning
and collect information through the local human rights activists
and organizations who are working in the local level.

To document properly of every collected information or conclusion and
also do monitoring of such incidents in the future.

To analyze the incidents minutely and enhance the general public informed
on the basic level of human rights violation.

To formulate strategies against human rights violation.
-
To publicize up-to-date human rights violation reports and also to include
the achievements of the movement on promoting and protecting
human rights. The Publication of these issues will be continued
every year.

This book is published with a view to stop human rights violation in the
future and to provide proper subsidy for the victims.
Achievements

Human Rights
yearbook has been established as a mirror of country’s overall
human rights situation.

Human Rights Yearbook has been very successfully made an institution although
the institutionalization is a difficult job.

INSEC and Yearbook have been established as intertwined institutions.

It has been developed as a base to study the trend analysis of current
human rights situation of the country. The information related
to the Maoist Movement (Killings and others) are being reliable
and important to the media, human rights organizations and others
for evaluating the human rights situation of the country.

International human rights organizations and media are using this book
as reliable reference to evaluate the current situation of human
rights in Nepal and glad to know that it has won the heart of
every one. But this task (publishing regularly by collecting
information all the year-round) is challenging as well.
